Care and Maintenance

Two Golden Rules of Long Engine Life
Proper break-in and maintenance ensure the maximum life of your investment. There are no secrets here, but it never hurts to repeat the following.

1. Lubrication: Oil is the lifeblood of an engine. With so many moving parts, oil is what keeps everything moving.
a.  Regular oil changes keeps lubrication at it’s peak to minimize wear on moving engine parts.
b.  Don’t wait for a low oil warning light! Be sure to keep your oil level topped.

2. Cooling: Watch those gauges! Don’t let your engine overheat.
a.  Keep your radiator, fan, water pump and hoses in tip top shape.
b.  Change your coolant as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
c.  If your engine starts to overheat, turn it off. Get your cooling system serviced. We want customers and repeat customers on good terms — not accidental ones.

Break-In: For new or remanufactured engines.
a.  Don’t hot rod for 500 miles. Keep your speeds modest.
b.  Minimize prolonged idling.
c.  For any newly remanufactured engines, we recommend the first oil change at 500 miles. It’s just a good, safe measure from the old days that never hurts — even today.
