 Care and Maintenance
Two Golden Rules of Long Engine Life Proper break-in and maintenance ensure the maximum life of your investment. There are no secrets here, but it never hurts to repeat the following.
1. Lubrication: Oil is the lifeblood of an engine. With so many moving parts, oil is what keeps everything moving.
 |
| a. |
Regular oil changes keeps lubrication at it’s peak to minimize wear on moving engine parts. |
| b. |
Don’t wait for a low oil warning light! Be sure to keep your oil level topped. |
2. Cooling: Watch those gauges! Don’t let your engine overheat.
 |
| a. |
Keep your radiator, fan, water pump and hoses in tip top shape. |
| b. |
Change your coolant as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. |
| c. |
If your engine starts to overheat, turn it off. Get your cooling system serviced. We want customers and repeat customers on good terms — not accidental ones. |
Break-In: For new or remanufactured engines.
 |
| a. |
Don’t hot rod for 500 miles. Keep your speeds modest. |
| b. |
Minimize prolonged idling. |
| c. |
For any newly remanufactured engines, we recommend the first oil change at 500 miles. It’s just a good, safe measure from the old days that never hurts — even today. |
